Faced with a oversupply in its domestic market, Bolivia’s Itacamba, is focussing on export markets. To date the company has exported 200,000t of clinker to Paraguay. “We are taking advantage of our border location and in addition, taking advantage of the ports of the Tamengo Canal, the export of clinker-cement has been made feasible. Bolivian economic downturn leads to pricing war

The economic slowdown in Bolivia is driving cement companies into a pricing war, according to Esmerk Latin American News. The cost of a 50kg bag of cement has fallen to BOB46 (US$6.66) from BOB75 over the past five years as cement producers vie for market share. Bolivia: Soboce receives new kiln

Bolivian cement company Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento (Soboce) has received a vertical kiln, the first to will installed in Bolivia, as part of Illimani LP12 project. An FLSmidth OK 36-4 mill will also be fitted into the firm's Viacha factory. The plant currently produces over 0.9Mta of cement but will see a capacity raise by 136 per cent to 2Mta. Bolivia: Itacamba’s highest production figures

Bolivian cement producer Itacamba Cemento has reported its highest ever production figure of cement, reaching 20,006t in June 2016 and breaking its previous record of 18,764.65t reported in August 2007. The firm intends to begin production at its Yacuses plant towards in the second half of 2016. Clinker production at the plant should begin in November and cement production in December.

Itacamba Cemento's new plant in Yacuses, near Puerto Suarez, Santa Cruz, is set to open in the second half of 2015, according to local press reports. The new facility will have a capacity of 870,000tpa of cement and primarily serve the Santa Cruz market in eastern Bolivia.

Sinoma signs EP contract with Itacamba Cemento

Sinoma International has signed a formal EP contract with Itacamba Cemento, a subsidiary of Votorantim, for a 2000tpd line in Bolivia. The contract scope is from raw material crushing to cement silo. Sinoma’s  responsibilities cover engineering design, mechanical equipment supply, transportation on DAP basis, on-site services, etc. The project schedule is 24 months.

Bolivia: Itacamba starts Yacuses construction in May

Itacamba will start building its new cement plant in Yacuses, Bolivia, on 13 May when civil works on the project commence. In April, heavy equipment will roll onto the terrain to prepare the 7ha site for construction. The Yacuses works reflects an investment of US$200m.
