Steppe Cement has swung to a FY pretax loss of US$8.1m in 2014 from a US$13m profit in the previous year. Revenue totalled US$116.63m in 2014 versus US$127.98m in the year before. The net loss amounted to US$7.9m from a profit of US$10.5m in 2013. In the first quarter of 2015, Kazakhstan-based producer Steppe Cement reported a three per cent decline in sales volumes to 192,884t from 198,607t a year earlier. Italcementi obtains EBRD loan for plant revamp

The Italcementi Group has signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) granting it a loan for approximately EUR20m to fund the modernisation of the Shymkent cement plant in southern Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan cement producer Steppe Cement Ltd Thursday reported third-quarter 2014 revenue of KZT7.65bn (US$42m), higher than the KZT7.24bn reported in the same period the previous year. The company achieved sales of 582,429t during the three month period, a 16 per cent increase from the third quarter of 2013, the company added.

Kazakh cement producer Steppe Cement Ltd reported cement sales of 709,459t for KZT9125m (US$49.7m) in 1H14 which compares with 564,440t of cement for KZT8165m in the 1H13. Kazakhstan Investment Fund JSC has attracted a strategic partner for the launch of production at the Hantau cement plant, Baiterek National Holding reported. Kazakhstan-based Steppe Cement Friday reported an increase in profit and revenue in the full year 2013, as domestic demand grew by double-digit figures. Steppe posted pretax profit of US$13m for 2013, up from US$12m a year earlier, as revenue rose to US$123m from US$120.2m in 2012. EBITDA for 2013 rose to US$28.7m compared with US$24.9m in 2012. Kazakhstan: Standard Cement to launch second production line in 2015

Standard Cement LPP plans to launch a second production line in south Kazakhstan in 2015, bringing total capacity of the facility to 2.3Mta. The line will have a design capacity of 1Mta, with equipment supplied by Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute (TCDRI), China. The company intends to expand its product range to include M500-M700 high-quality cement and oil well cement.
