Turnover at Vicat eased by 0.3 per cent in 2013 to EUR2286m and EBITDA came off by 2.4 per cent to EUR427m, while at unchanged parameters they would have risen by 2.9 per cent and 0.3 per cent respectively. Kazakhstan producer Steppe Cement said its 2013 revenue was 8.7 per cent higher YoY, as demand in the central Asian country increased by an estimated 13 per cent to 8.1Mt during 2013. The company generated revenues of KZT19.47bn during the year, up from KTZ17.91bn in 2012. Cement sales reached 1.37Mt, up from 1.35Mt in 2012m an increase of 1.3 per cent. Italcementi breaks ground on new Kazakh kiln line

The Italcementi group has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new kiln line at its Shymkent Cement in south Kazakhstan. Plant managing director, Gabriel Morin, said the capacity of the new dry-process cement line would be 1.2Mta. The project will take 20 months to complete, Kazakhstan General Newswire reported. BTA Bank to finance Standard Cement new line

BTA Bank JSC will act as the main creditor for the construction of Standard Cement factory's second production line in southern Kazakhstan. The funds will be used to acquire equipment for the dry-process line, a statement released on 21 October said. Steppe Cement Ltd said Tuesday its third-quarter 2013 revenue was slightly ahead on the same period of last year and has upwardly revised its outlook for full-year Kazakhstan cement demand. Steppe Cement Ltd posted an increased pretax profit during the first six months of the year of US$3.8m compared with US$391,000 a year earlier. Fitch Ratings has affirmed and simultaneously withdrawn Central Asia Cement's (CAC) National Long-Term Rating at 'BB-(kaz)' with Positive Outlook and senior unsecured bond rating at 'B(kaz)'.
