Pakistan’s leading cement producer Lucky Cement reported a profit after tax for nine months of PKR8.185bn (US$83m), up 17.2 per cent YoY. Earnings per share (EPS) for the period increased to PKR25.31 against an EPS of PKR21.59 of corresponding period last year. Lucky Cement begins production at Iraq works

Pakistan producer Lucky Cement has started production at its 0.87Mta joint venture grinding plant in Basra, Iraq. Lucky Cement CEO, Muhammad Ali Tabba, told local press that production started in February. Pakistan market leader Lucky Cement reported a 20 per cent rise in net profit for the first half of FY14 boosted by in part by higher prices. Net profit for the six months to the end of December 2013 stood at PKR5.16bn (US$49.2m) compared to PKR4.49bn in the same period of the year before. The Pakistan cement industry is likely to post a MoM drop of 13 per cent of total dispatches in January 2014 as winter affected both domestic and export shipments, which were down by 13 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively. Pakistan’s largest cement producer, Lucky Cement, reported a rise in profit of 26 per cent in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The company recorded after-tax profit of PKR2.54bn (US$23.8m) or earnings per share of Rs7.87 compared to profit of PKR2.01bn or EPS of Rs6.23 in the previous quarter. Pakistan-based producer Lucky Cement reported a 47 per cent increase in full-year profit and is optimistic on the outlook for domestic consumption but cautions that challenges remain. Lucky Cement, has reported a 49 per cent YoY rise in net profit for the first nine months of FY13 as Pakistan’s largest cement producer by capacity is boosted by higher prices.
