Pakistan's cement industry saw a growth of 9.82 per cent in total dispatches to 38.87Mt during fiscal year 2015-16 (July-June) from 35.34Mt in July 2014 to June 2015. The breakdown shows local and export dispatches stood at 33Mt and 5.87Mt, respectively during this period. Pakistan: WHR for Askari Cement's Wah plant

Pakistani cement producer Askari Cement Ltd is planning to install a waste heat recovery (WHR) plant for its 3500tpd clinker line at its Wah works in Rawalpindi, Punjab.It is currently negotiating with leading international WHR suppliers. At present Askari Cement has two plants in operation: one is located in Wah and the other in Nizampur (Khyber Pakhtun Khwa), with a combined production capacity of 8925tpd.

Pakistan's cement exports have recorded a marked fall in the first 11 months of FY15-16 as overseas demand has dropped and competition has intensified, according to data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The 30MW coal-fired captive power plant of DG Khan Cement Co (DGKCC) at its Dera Ghazi Khan is scheduled to start up in the next week, according to market sources. The power plant was supplied by China-based Sinoma Energy Conservation and will enable the cement producer to achieve cost savings in terms of power supply as well as reduce its dependency on the national grid.

Pakistan: Environment agency orders two plant closures

Pakistan’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered two cement plants to close for filing to install measures to control dust emissions, according to reports in the local press. The plants affected belong to Dewan Cement and Kohat Cement. A spokesperson for the EPA said that both companies had been told to act to curb dust pollution but not done so to date. Pakistan: Pioneer Cement sets up 12MW WHR plant

Pioneer Cement Ltd (PIOC) has signed an agreement with CITIC industries for a 12MW Waste Heat Recovery System (WHR) at its plant, Chenki district, Khushab on the banks of Jhelum River in Punjab province of Pakistan. The cost of the project is PKR1.5bn (US$14.32m) and will come on stream FY19. The plant is expected to meet about 38 per cent of the company’s total electricity requirement.
