Wärtsillä receives 29MW power engine order from Cherat Cement

Finland-based technology group Wärtsilä is to supply power generation equipment for an extension to Cherat Cement Ltd. The Pakistani cement producer has contracted Wärtsilä to supply three Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines capable of operating on both natural gas and heavy fuel oil (HFO). Fauji Cement Co Ltd reported a 51 per cent drop in net profit after tax to PKR2.61bn (US$24.5m) in FY17 from PKR5.36bn in FY16. The Pakistani cement producer saw sales edge up to PKR 20.423bn from PKR 20.044bn in FY16. DG Khan Cement (DGKC) of Pakistan announced unconsolidated FY17 net profit after tax of PKR7.97bn, down nine per cent YoY basis. The company also declared final cash dividend of PKR7.50/share, complying with 40 per cent mandatory payouts. Kohat Cement Co Ltd (KOHC) of Pakistan has reported a FY17 profit after tax of PKR3.54bn (US$33.5m), a drop of over 19 per cent YoY. Total sales of the cement producer fell to PKR13.54bn during this period from PKR14.019bn of FY16. The Chinese design institute NCDRI has awarded a contract to Claudius Peters for the delivery of two clinker cooler conversions. The customer, Askari Cement in Pakistan, wants to convert two grate coolers to modern ETA cooler technology from Claudius Peters. Cement sales in Pakistan rose 10.9 per cent YoY in August 2017 to 3.766Mt from 3.585Mt in August 2016. In the northern region, dispatches reached 2.731Mt, up from 2.495Mt in August 2016, while in the southern region dispatches rose from 0.532Mt to 0.625Mt during the same period. Maple Leaf FY17 net profit dips

Pakistan-based Maple Leaf Cement Factory Ltd (MLCF) reported a net profit of PKR4.77bn in FY17, a decline of two per cent on a YoY basis. Revenue was up by two per cent YoY to PKR24.0bn for FY17. Finance costs of the company declined by 27 per cent YoY to PKR318m during FY17.  Along with the results the company also announced a final cash dividend of PKR1.75/share taking cumulative DPS to PKR3.75/share (compared to a DPS of PKR4.0 in FY16).  

Attock Cement reports flat 4Q earnings, full-year rise

Pakistan cement producer Attock Cement posted flat net earnings in 4QFY17 of PKR796m (US$7.5m) against the same period of last year, the company said in a note to the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The result took full-year earnings in fiscal 2016-17 to PKR3.303bn, up five per cent YoY versus PKR2.89bn in the previous fiscal. Pakistan's local dispatches from units based in its northern region were 2.423Mt, while the region's export dispatches reached 0.338Mt in July 2017, representing a significant increase from 1.516Mt local and 0.306Mt export dispatches reported in July 2016.
