Itacamba exports 200,000t of clinker

Faced with a oversupply in its domestic market, Bolivia’s Itacamba, is focussing on export markets. To date the company has exported 200,000t of clinker to Paraguay. “We are taking advantage of our border location and in addition, taking advantage of the ports of the Tamengo Canal, the export of clinker-cement has been made feasible. Paraguay's INC to inaugurate new Villeta mill

Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) will inaugurate its new US$11.5m cement mill tomorrow, enabling the plant to increase production by 50 per cent, according the cement company. The new 80tph mill has been operational since February, working in parallel with the old mill, which was installed in 1985. Output is expected to rise to 390,000t at Villeta. As a result, the company expects to increase its market share from a current 51 per cent to 70-75 per cent and increase revenues by US$50m.

Fancesa gears up for exports to Paraguay, Argentina and Chile

Argentina-based producer Loma Negra reported a 41.6 per cent rise in net revenues in the first quarter of 2018 to ARS4534m (US$230m) as the company’s combined cement, masonry and lime sales volumes in Argentina increased 9.5 per cent YoY and prices were favourable. Loma Negra (InterCement group) announced its results for the three- and 12-month periods ended 31 December 2017 with net revenue for 4Q17 increasing 57.1 per cent to ARS4452m (US$218.9m), from ARS2834m (US$139.3m) in 4Q16, mainly driven by higher volumes sold across all segments along with increased prices. FANCESA considering new mill near Paraguay border

Bolivia’s FANCESA is planning a new mill and bagging facility near the border with Paraguay, and is in discussions with an undisclosed Paraguayan company. “From that meeting we will be able to establish a cement grinding and distribution facility 500km from Santa Cruz and 300km from Paraguay,” Eduardo Rivero, FANCESA’s president. INC sales surpass 1m bags in January

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) sold 1,003,000 bags of cement in January, of which 87 per cent was sold from its Villeta plant, according to Derlys Ortiz, the company’s commercial manager. Sales from Vallemí represented 13 per cent, or 133,000 bags. In January 2017 the company sold 1.1m bags and therefore, this year’s first-month sales were down eight per cent. Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) expects to raise output in March by 30 per cent as it commissions its new cement mill. The new mill is currently in the last stage of assembly, said INC President, Jorge Méndez. At present, the cement company produces around 50,000 bags/day.
