Afghanistan to increase production

Following Pakistan’s recent ban on cement exports to Afghanistan, the country’s Ministry for Commerce said on Sunday that the government had increased investment in the sector to meet local demand and also control prices. Head of Foreign Trade Department with Afghanistan’s Ministry for Commerce Mohammad Azim, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the department had discussed locally producing cement prior to the export ban by Pakistan.

Iran’s cement production increasing

Cement production in Iran will total 36Mt in the current Iranian year (ends March 20, 2007). Some 2.5Mt was added to the country’s cement production capacity last year as two new cement plants came on stream in Yazd and Kashan. India Cements plans price hike

India Cements, one of the largest producers of cement in South India, is planning to raise prices once again. Industry sources say the company is looking at raising prices up to Rs 20 per bag in the next month. The hike may not be all at one go but in tranches. N.
