Jamacian importers are preparing to lobby the Government for a full removal of the tariff on cement. It’s reported that cement importers want the remaining 15 per cent duty withdrawn to provide easier access for imports. The Ukrtsement Association has explained the year-on-year decline in cement production in January and February by seasonal factors that always influence this kind of production.  Association Chairman Anatolii Havriushyn said: "There is always a fall in winter, between December and March. Venezuela imports Cuban cement

Venezuela is to buy 500,000t of cement from Cuba, out of which 5000t will be delivered next week. Housing and Habitat minister Luis Figueroa, who is in Cuba to complete the deal, said they are to define details regarding shipments, ports for delivery of cement, orders and costs. Figueroa said recently that Cuban cement imports were needed because of the inability of local manufacturers to supply.
