Turkey sees 24% in exports in 4M21

Turkey’s cement export values increased by 23.5 per cent to US$1.41bn in the January-April 2021 period when compared to the equivalent period in 2020, according to the Turkish Ministry of Trade. Exports to Georgia were up 2.3 per cent to US$13.1m in the four-month period. In April 2021 Turkey exported cement with a value over US$402.5m to global markets, representing an advance of 74 per cent YoY.

Indonesian cement exports see 119% YoY rise in 5M21

While cement exports from Indonesia decreased from 1.2Mt in March and April to 1Mt in May, the January-May 2021 volume saw a 119 per cent YoY rise to 5.69Mt, according to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI).     Around half of exports were shipped to Bangladesh while China accounted for an offtake of 740,531t, or 13 per cent, in the first five months of 2021. Semen Indonesia Group subsidiary PT Semen Padang increased its cement and clinker exports to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka by 30.5 per cent YoY to 208,806t in April 2021, up from 160,000t in April 2020. CEMAP data showed imports were growing by an average of 6-7 per cent annually. In 2020 approximately 500t of cement arrived from Vietnam, which emerged as the biggest cement exporter in southeast Asia.
