Carthage’s turnover increase fourfold in first six months22 July 2014, Published under Cement NewsTurnover by Tunisia’s newest cement producer, Carthage Cement, amounted to TND101,836m (US$59m), up 419 per cent compared to the same period of last year. Clinker and cement sales totalled TND19.262 and TND64,060, respectively during the six months to the end of June 2014. Readymix concrete activities increased by 25 per cent YoY. Aggregate sales, however, fell 28 per cent due to the absence of infrastructure public works contracts. |
Tunisia: Ciments de Bizerte inaugurates plant upgrade26 June 2014, Published under Cement NewsWith the inauguration of its upgraded production unit on 17 June 2014 in the presence of the country’s industry, energy and mines, Kamel Bennaceur, Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has increased its capacity by 50 per cent to more than 1.5Mta. The upgrade is the result of a TND250m (US$149m) investment programme which was initiated three years ago. It includes a modernisation of the plant’s dust control systems which will lower emissions to 20mg/Nm3. |
Carthage Cement issues Provisional Performance Acceptance certificate, Tunisia06 June 2014, Published under Cement NewsThe Provisional Acceptance certificate has been issued by Carthage Cement for the 5800tpd Djebel Ressas cement plant in Tunisia, constructed by an FLSmdith-Ekon-Prokon consortium on an EPC turkney basis. The greenfield Djebel Ressas plant is the first project to be completed after the Arab Spring. According to a statement by Ekon, the plant has exceeded design figures in terms of production capacity and product quality while achieving less emissions. |

Carthage Cement appoints new Board member, Tunisia17 March 2014, Published under Cement NewsDuring Carthage Cement’s Annual General Meeting of Thursday, 13 March, Kais Jamaia was appointed as a new Board member, representing the Tunisian government. Mr Jamaia was previously a member of the General Audit Office. Since entering production last November, Carthage Cement has produced 66,599t of cement.
