Construction output is forecast to fall by 6.3% this year and a further 1.4% next, before a return to growth in 2014 according to the latest Construction Industry Forecasts published today by the Construction Products Association (CPA).   This decline will mean a reduction of almost GBP8.5bn of construction activity over these two years, undermining the ability for construction to lead the UK’s economic recovery, the CPA states. UK construction output fell 11.6 per cent YoY in August 2012, non-seasonably adjusted data from the Office for National Statistics showed on Friday. Compared to July, construction dipped 0.9 per cent after a 2.1 per cent month-on-month rise in July. Cementos Portland Valderrivas has invested EUR1m in a new unloader to speed up bulk discharges from ships in the port of Ipswich terminal, one of two that the group has in the United Kingdom. Paramount Pictures has unveiled plans to build one of the world’s biggest theme parks in Britain – creating 27,000 jobs at a former cement works.
