The US Geological Survey has released preliminary results for the US cement shipments up to June 2016. US deliveries totalled 8,146,984t of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and blended cements in June, while foreign imports totalled just over 1Mt. Cemex USA has been awarded the US Environmental Protection Agency's Eneregy Star certification for 2016 at five of its cement plants. The Brooksville, Miami, Clinchfield, Fairborn and Victorville plants have all been recognised by Eneregy Star for their efforts in energy efficiency and sustainability. McInnis Cement officially broke ground at the new cement company's first US terminal in the Port of Providence. The overall cost of the project is expected to reach US$22m when completed by year-end. Martin Marietta Materials, one of the top five US aggregates producers, has announced a first half turnover 11.3 per cent ahead at US$1649.8m and EBITDA rose by 40.6 per cent to US$419.1m.
