Iskitimtsement raises 9M12 output, Russia

Iskitimtsement, part of Russia-based RATM Holding, raised cement output by 23.1 per cent YoY to 1.123Mt in January-September, RIA Novosti news reported. Deliveries rose 28.9 per cent to 1.294Mt during the same nine m onth period. For the third quarter of the year, Iskitimtsement produced 535,000t of cement and sold 579,369t. ACC September cement production up 9%, India

ACC Ltd, part of the Holcim Group, reported that its production in September rose by nine per cent to 1.82Mt from  1.67Mt in the same month of 2011. Dispatches reached 1.80Mt, compared with 1.73Mt, an increase of four per cent. Lafarge divests in US assets to Eagle, market improves

Last week, Lafarge announced the disposal of two cement works and a network of ready-mix concrete plants in Missouri and Oklahoma, USA, to Eagle Materials Inc, adding US$446m (EUR344m) to its coffers. With the deal, Eagle Materials acquires the 1Mta Kansas City (MO) and the 0.6Mta unit in Tulsa (OK) as well as related distribution terminals, two aggregate quarries, eight ready-mixed concrete businesses and a fly ash firm. In August 2012, grey cement production in Colombia reached 939,600t, representing a growth of 0.2 per cent over the same period of 2011, according to data released by Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadistica (Dane). Buzzi Unicem reported a 2.6 per cent drop to 13.1Mt in group cement sales in 1H2012 with Russia, the US, Mexico and Ukraine making positive contributions. Spain: eight month consumption down 34.3% YoY

Spanish cement consumption for the first eight months of 2012 has declined by 34.3 per cent YoY to 9.56Mt, according to the latest data from Spanish cement association Oficemen. In August alone, demand was down 33.6 per cent YoY to 1.13Mt. Exports, on the other hand, increased by 48.9 per cent compared to the same month of 2011. Vietnam produced 31.59Mt of cement in the first eight months of this year, down two per cent from a year earlier, the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA) said. In August, the country’s cement output decreased 12 per cent from July to 3.77Mt. Shipments of cement in the Peruvian market totaled 6,098,738t from January to August 2012, 16.84 per cent more than the same period of 2011 (5,219,828t), the Association of Cement Producers (Asocem) has reported. Morgan Stanley (MS) believes that the China cement industry showed some early signs for recovery, noting that prices have stopped declining on rising property construction following accelerating land sales.
