PT Semen Indonesia’s domestic cement sales dropped six per cent YoY to 2.55Mt in October from 2.71Mt. However, the company saw its export sales rise from 28,302t in October 2015 to 62,829t one year later. For the first 10 months of 2016, domestic sales edged up from 20.93Mt in 10M15 to 21.19Mt. Cement exports rose 15.2 per cent YoY from 419,767t to 483,745t.

Russia: demand set to fall by up to 12% in 2016

Demand for cement in Russia may drop 10-12 per cent in 2016, according to a representative of Moscow-based Eurocement Group. Cement production in Vietnam reach 31.4Mt in the first five months of this year, rising 16.1 per cent from a year earlier, the government-run General Statistics Office said. Indonesian cement producers are on track to achieve the lower-end of the Indonesian Cement Association's (ASI) 4-5 per cent annual growth target, with Fitch Ratings expecting a boost in demand during 2H16 due to new construction projects and more favourable economic conditions. China Resources Cement (CRC) has seen profits attributable to owners fall by 99 per cent to HKD6.6m (US$850,000) for the first three months of 2016 as compared to the same period in 2015. The firm's revenues fell by 24 per cent to HKD4.7bn (US$610m) in 1Q2016. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 67.9Mt of cement in 2015, up 10.7 per cent from a year ago, including 6.6Mt in December, up 11.9 per cent, the government-run General Statistics Office said. Vietnam producers sold 4.42Mt of cement to the domestic market in July, up 12 per cent from the previous month and 14 per cent from the same period a year ago, the Vietnam Cement Association said.
