China Resources Cement sees profits fall by 99%

China Resources Cement (CRC) has seen profits attributable to owners fall by 99 per cent to HKD6.6m (US$850,000) for the first three months of 2016 as compared to the same period in 2015. The firm's revenues fell by 24 per cent to HKD4.7bn (US$610m) in 1Q2016. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 67.9Mt of cement in 2015, up 10.7 per cent from a year ago, including 6.6Mt in December, up 11.9 per cent, the government-run General Statistics Office said. Vietnam producers sold 4.42Mt of cement to the domestic market in July, up 12 per cent from the previous month and 14 per cent from the same period a year ago, the Vietnam Cement Association said. Exports totalled 1.15Mt, comprising 363,603t of cement and 754,962t of clinker – up 31 and nine per cent MoM, respectively. Iran produced 18.23Mt of cement and 19.35Mt of clinker in spring 2014, which corresponds to the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (21 March – 20 June).   Meanwhile, Iran exported around 18Mt of cement in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on 20 March 2014. The country’s cement output is currently about 80Mta, of which 50Mta is used by domestic industries.

Polish cement production jumped by 40.3 per cent YoY to 1.45Mt in April, while sales increased 23.5 per cent YoY for the month of April to 1.46Mt, said Poland's Cement Producer Association in a statement.
