Cement sales in Brazil reached 16.1Mt in the first quarter of 2013, a decline of 1.9 per cent from the same period of last year, latest data from local association SNIC shows. Argentine cement factories shipped 938,872t in March 2013 (including exports), representing an 11.9 per cent increase compared to February, latest data from local cement association AFCP shows. During the Iranian year ending 20 March 2013, the country produced 70.26Mt, which represented growth of 5.7 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year (66.44Mt). Semen Indonesia, the country’s largest cement producer, has reported a double-digit rise in first quarter sales and has increased its market share thanks to new capacity additions. Association warns of industry losses through exports, Vietnam

Despite the Vietnamese government calling for the domestic industry to increase exports, the chairman of the Vietnam Building Association has called for local producers to cooperate in a fair pricing environment to prevent further losses. Indonesian cement sales rose by 8.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 to 13.6Mt, latest data from the country’s largest producer, Semen Indonesia, shows citing figures from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). Pakistan cement dispatches rise on increased exports

Pakistan reported a rise in dispatches last month led by gains in export volumes but domestic sales were subdued. Latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association show cement dispatches reached 3.326Mt last month, of which 2.558Mt was consumed by the domestic market and 0.786Mt exported. South Africa sales rise by 3% in 2012

South African cement sales edged ahead 2.9 per cent in 2012 to reach 11.6Mt from 11.23Mt the year before, data from the Cement and Concrete Institute (C&CI) shows. For the final quarter of the year, sales were just over 3Mt, also representing an increase of  2.9 per cent on the same period of 2011 when fourth-quarter sales were 2.944Mt. The C&CI will be closing down at the end of April, and as such, these are the last set of statistics to be issued by the institute.
