National Cement Co Ltd to open 2.5Mta clinker plant in Kenya

Kenya-based National Cement Co Ltd (NCC) has announced it will open a new clinker plant in September 2023. Located in West Pokot, the new plant is expected to have a clinker capacity of 2.5Mta. Cementis expansion to lead to lower cement price and self-sufficiency

The expansion of the Cementis cement plant in Ibity, near Antsirabe in Madagascar, is expected to lead to a significant drop in cement prices. Within three years, the price of a 50kg bag is forecast to fall to MGA14,000 (US$3.17), according to the country’s President, Andry Rajoelina. The project will increase the production at the cement plant to 1Mt from its current 180,000tpa, enabling the country to achieve cement self-sufficiency.

Fauji Cement commissions Nizampur Line 3

Fauji Cement Co Ltd (FCCL) informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that on 27 October it successfully commissioned the third production line at its existing plant in Kahi Village, Nizampur, Khyber Pakthunkhwa. The new line has a clinker production capacity of 6500tpd. The project will bring the total cement production capacity of FCCL to more than 8.4Mta, according to Company Secretary, Brig Abid Hussain Bhatti. Lucky Cement reports Pezu expansion on track

Lucky Cement Ltd announced that the company’s 3.15Mt brownfield cement expansion at Pezu remains on track to be commissioning by December 2022. A 34MW solar power project is set to be commissioned at the site in the 2Q22-23. Just hours after acquiring a 100 per cent stake in Springway Mining from India Cements , JSW Cement has announced plans to invest over INR32,000m (US$388.8m) in an integrated greenfield plant in Madhya Pradesh and a split grinding unit in Uttar Pradesh. Adbri provides Kwinana update

Adbri Ltd reported that the upgrade of its Kwinana cement plant in Western Australia, originally budgeted at AUD199m (US$137.3m), is likely to see a 15 per cent hike in costs, taking into account inflationary and supply chain pressures. Vietnamese cement producer Xuan Than Cement is expected to bring online its third line, with a cement capacity of 4.5Mta, at the end of October, according to local media. Upon completion, the production line will increase the company’s total capacity in Ha Nam province to 10Mta. The 2.3Mta Long Thanh project is also expected to be commissioned this year. It will add to an already-high cement supply in the 64Mta market.
