Pakistan's government has released its economic survey for 2018-19. Yanbu Cement is targeting a rise in exports, having exported 997,000t of cement and clinker in 1Q19, approximately 40 per cent of Saudi Arabia's cement and clinker exports. Current downward trends in Pakistan's domestic cement demand are expected to impact capacity utilisation. Overall cement sales in the country declined by 12 per cent YoY in February 2019 to 3.3Mt, according to Intermarket Securities Ltd, quoting APCMA data. Cement demand in Thailand is forecast to increase in the next few years after a recovery in the private construction sector, says Fitch Ratings. SCG Cambodia, a subsidiary of the Siam Cement Group, yesterday announced that revenue from sales in 2018 grew by 15 per cent, rising to US$396m. Saudi Arabia's cement sales in October, including exports, dropped to 4.03Mt, compared to 4.1Mt in October 2017, a fall of 1.8 per cent YoY.
