The Taiwan Cement Corporation has said that it expects to ship 1.1Mt of cement to China in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of two per cent on its performance in 1Q16, the Taipei Times reports. According to statistics released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, exports of clinker and cement in the first 10 months of 2016 were down 8.4 per cent on the same period a year earlier, Vinanet reports. The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has announced that cement sales in the month of September rose by 3.55 per cent, reports the Tribune Newspaper. While domestic demand was relatively stable – accounting for around two per cent of the growth – exports, particularly to India, played a key role in sales growth. The Chzungtsai Mohir Cement cement plant has been officially opened by Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan, Asia Plus reports. Cement consumption in Indonesia reached 29.48Mt for the first six months of 2016, according to Indonesia Investments, but sales in Java – the largest market – recorded a decline in June. Overall, cement consumption for 1H2016 was up 3.1 per cent YoY. In June, Indonesia consumed 5.1Mt of cement, up by 1.8 per cent YoY.
