All Mizoram cement and iron rod dealers on Wednesday observed a daylong strike across the northeast Indian state to protest a hike in cement prices by three companies – Dalmia, Star and Topcem. Nicholas George, Hima Cement Country CEO, has stated that cement prices in Uganda will fall some more as new capacities, such as Hima's 1.7Mta expansion in Tororo, come on-stream. Senegal cement price sees 10% hike

Cement prices in Senegal have been rising by XOF5000/t (US$8.93/t) in the last fortnight. The ex-works price of 32.5-grade cement has increased from XOF50,800/t to XOF55,800/t while for 42.5-grade product the current ex-works price is XOF60,400/t, up from XOF55,400/t. The price rises have been attributed to a new tax imposed by the Senegalese government. It follows a XOF3000/t price hike in January 2017.

Cement prices rise in northern Pakistan

Cement prices in Pakistan, after registering a drop of almost 10 per cent over the last nine months, have started to increase in the northern region. Prices rose by PKR20 (US$0.17) on average, while prices have remained stable in the south. In Lahore the multiple brands of cement bags available have increased from an average of PKR505/50kg bag to PKR525.
