Cementarnica Usje sees 9M net profit up 77%

North Macedonia-based Cementarnica Usje , owned by Greek cement producer Titan, reported 77 per cent YoY increase in net profit to MKD1.1bn (US$19m) in the January-September 2023 period. The company’s operating expenses declined 17 per cent YoY to MKD3.4bn in the 9M23 as material costs fell 23 per cent YoY to MKD1.9bn. It total operating revenue slipped by two per cent YoY to MKD4.8bn in the 9M23.

Lafarge Cement Polska commits to renewable energy

Lafarge Cement Polska has joined forces with KGAL Investment Management, an asset manger in the Polish renewables market, to establish two onshore wind farms, known as Krasin and Rywald. Slovenia-based cement producer, Salonit Anhovo , is expanding its rooftop solar power plant by 1.5MW. The installation on the roof of the company’s cement plant near Anhovo is already the largest of its kind in Slovenia at 2.2MW. Cementarnica Usje posts 13% drop in net profit in 2022

Cementarnica Usje , the North Macedonian subsidiary of Titan, reported a 13 per cent YoY drop in net profit to MKD1bn (US$17.2m) in 2022 as costs increased. Operating expenses were up 41 per cent YoY to MKD5.8bn in 2022 as raw material costs increased by 67 per cent YoY to MKD3.5bn. Operating revenue advanced 25 per cent YoY to MKD6.7bn in 2022. Sales within Macedonia increased 26 per cent YoY to MKD4.1bn while export sales were up 22 per cent YoY to MKD2.3bn in 2022.

Holcim Bulgaria awarded 35-year concession

The Bulgarian government has granted Holcim Bulgaria a concession for the Marudnicite West sand and gravel deposit near Sofia for 35 years. The deposit is located between the villages of Negovan and Chepintsi on the northeastern outskirts of the city. Akmenes Cementas , Lithuania’s only cement producer, plans to import up to 200,000t of solid recovered fuel (SRF) for use in the second half of 2023. Last year the company received EUR4.34m in funding under the Climate Change Program towards the EUR20m bill to install SRF burning equipment.
