Schwenk Latvija opens new grinding plant

Schwenk Latvija has opened what it calls “one of Europe’s most sustainable grinding plants”. The new works at Brocēni  was commissioned in June 2022 and took just 20 months to complete. The grinding circuit, which was supplied by Christian Pfeiffer, produces high-quality cement such as CEM I 52.5R with up to 5600 Blaine.  

Schwenk Latvija reports 5% increase in turnover in 2021

Schwenk Latvija has reported a 4.9 per cent YoY increase in turnover in 2021. The company's turnover reached EUR96.455m, while profit came in at EUR16.118m, up 31.9 per cent YoY, according to Firmas.lv. 2021 saw Schwenk Latvija sell more than 1Mt of cement, of which over 75 per cent was exported, mainly to Finland, Estona and Sweden, reports Baltic Business Daily. Czech cement producer Cement Hranice , owned by Dyckerhoff AG, increased its sales by 13.4 per cent to CZK2.037bn (US$89.8m) in 2021 when compared with sales posted in 2020. Cement sales in Poland are expected to decline to 19Mt in 2022 from 19.3Mt in 2021, according to the Polish cement association, SPC. However, the association predicts that sales could return to their upward trend in 2023, when it projects sales of 19.4Mt.
