Swiss cement sales up 2% in 3Q16

Swiss cement deliveries increased two per cent YoY in 3Q16, according to the Swiss cement association, Cemsuisse. In the first nine months of this year, domestic deliveries advanced 5.1 per cent. In 2015 Swiss cement deliveries reached 4.22Mt for the full year, representing a 7.9 per cent YoY drop from 4.58Mt.

Cement consumption growth in Kazakhstan is expected to decelerate in 2016, breaking with the decade-long trend of demand expansion of 15-30 per cent annually. Only in 2009, consumption dropped. In August Peruvian cement demand reached 0.868Mt, representing 4.3 per cent decline YoY, according to Asocem, the country's cement association. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 50.6Mt of cement in the first eight months of 2016, a 15.2 per cent increase from the same period last year, according the the government-run General Statistics Office. Inclement weather conditions resulted in Vietnam’s cement sales slipping to 5.15Mt in July, but prices remained stable, according to the country’s Ministry of Construction. Exports stood at 1.1Mt. The US Geological Survey has released preliminary results for the US cement shipments up to June 2016. US deliveries totalled 8,146,984t of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and blended cements in June, while foreign imports totalled just over 1Mt.
