Dominican Republic cement sales up 7.5% in 2016

Sales of cement in the Dominican Republic rose by 7.5 per cent by volume and 5.2 per cent by value in 2016 when compared with 2015 according to the country’s cement association, Adocem.  Domestic sales reached 4,247,468t in 2016 while in 2015 3,950,956t were delivered. In terms of value, cement sales rose from DOP15.233m (US$325,844) in 2015 to 16.03m the following year. Colombian cement sales fall 5.5% YoY in 2016

Cement deliveries in Colombia decreased by 5.5 per cent YoY to 12.102Mt in 2016 from 12.807Mt in 2015, according to the latest figures published by DANE, the national statistics service. While sales in Atlántico and Antioquia rose by seven and 3.5 per cent, respectively, Cesar and Casanare reported a market contraction of 24.8 and 20.5 per cent, respectively. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico in November 2016 were about 7.9Mta, up by 8.2 per cent from sales in November 2015. Bolivia’s cement market required 2.663Mt of cement in the first nine months of 2016, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The Portland Cement Association (PCA) has lowered its annual growth estimate for 2016 cement consumption from four per cent to 2.7 per cent. Cement consumption in Colombia fell 14.4 per cent to 0.994Mt in October 2016 from 1.162Mt in October 2015, according to the latest figures by the country’s statistics office, DANE. Domestic cement production in October reached 1.076Mt, down 11 per cent YoY. In the first 10 months of 2016, domestic dispatches saw a 5.2 per cent drop to 10.077Mt when compared with 10.632Mt reported in October 2015. Argentina’s cement market contracted 17.9 per cent YoY and 7.1 per cent MoM in October 2016 as 925,678t (from 1,128,015t in October 2015) of cement were delivered to domestic customers, according to the latest figures by the country’s cement association, AFCP.
