Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in March 2017 were about 7.5Mt, slightly less than sales in March 2016, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported yesterday. A boom in the French housing market is fuelling domestic cement demand. Lafarge Cement's sales increased by nearly two per cent YoY to CZK992m (EUR37.6m) in 2016. Cement demand in Spain fell 2.3 per cent YoY to 917,152t in April, according to data by Oficemen, the country’s cement association.
