Moroccan cement sales down by quarter in December

Cement deliveries in Morocco decreased by 25 per cent in December 2022 to 942,317t from 1,255,552t in December 2021, according to the country’s cement association, APC. The monthly total includes sales by APC members Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc . In the full-year 2022 total deliveries fell by 10.7 per cent to 12.487Mt from 13.975Mt in 2021.

Kenyan cement consumption falls 15% YoY

Cement consumption in Kenya declined from 2.596Mt in the third quarter of 2021 to 2.217Mt in the same period this year, marking a contraction of 14.6 per cent YoY. Grey cement consumption in Colombia declined by 4.2 per cent in November 2022 to 1.118Mt from 1.167Mt in November 2021, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Cement consumption in Vietnam in November 2022 totalled 5,275,474t, down by three per cent YoY, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total 1,800,848t was supplied by VICEM, representing a YoY decline of two per cent, while other VNCA members supplied 1,174,626t, down four per cent YoY. Cement demand in Chile has dropped by 15 per cent to 348,665t in October 2022, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). In October 2021 cement demand reached 410,424t. In the January-October period, demand fell by 12 per cent YoY to 3,190,518t from 3,624,776t in the 10M21.

Cement dispatches in Peru declined by two per cent in November 2022 to 1.167Mt from 1.185Mt in November 2021, reports domestic cement association, Asocem. Cement consumption in Spain has increased 1.8 per cent YoY in November to 1,343,393t, reports Oficemen, the country’s cement association. It is the first increase after six months of contraction. Cement deliveries by members of Morocco’s cement association, APC, ( Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc ) were down 9.4 per cent YoY to 1,112,013t in November 2022, according to the cement association. In the January-November 2022 period dispatches were down by 9.2 per cent to 11.544Mt when compared with the 12.719Mt dispatched in the 11M21.

Iranian cement consumption increased by 2.9 per cent to 5,514,796t in November 2022 when compared with the year-ago level of 5.36Mt, according to the Iran Cement Association. Cement sales in Brazil slipped 0.8 per cent YoY to 5.3Mt in November 2022, according to the Brazilian cement association,  SNIC.
