Argentina sees cement dispatches up 1.2% YoY in January 2017

Argentina’s cement market expanded by 1.2 per cent YoY in January 2017 as cement sales reached 868,590t from 858,496t the year before, according to the country's cement association, AFCP. Ireland: Quinn Cement open Warrenpoint export hub

Quinn Cement has establised a new cement export hub in Warrenpoint Harbour in Co Down, Ireland, in a GBP2.5m (EUR2.9m) investment. With a capacity to move 7500t, the export facility will service Quinn Cement's base in Co Cavan. The hub will be operated over a 10-year period in conjunction with the Warrenpoint Harbour Authority. Pakistan: exports to Afghanistan decline

APCMA data revealed that domestic dispatches in January 2017 were 2.722Mt, while exports amounted to 0.376Mt, reflecting YoY growth of 0.78 and -2.71 per cent, respectively. Vietnam notes fall in exports in 2016

Vietnam exported 14.73Mt of cement in 2016, down 7.1 per cent YoY, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Export revenues fell 16 per cent YoY to US$561m. In December the country exported 1.31Mt of cement and clinker to the value of US$50.58m, increasing 7.7 per cent and 10.4 per cent MoM in volume and value, respectively. Venezuela expects to export 0.3Mt of cement in 2017

In 2017 Venezuela’s cement industry forecasts cement exports of 0.3Mt, around five per cent of the country’s total planned production of 6Mt, according to the President of the Federación Bolivariana de Construcción, Marco Tulio Díaz. He added that part of the output of the cement plants is directed to Misión Vivienda, the government’s housing programme.

In 2016 Tajikistan exported 300,000t of cement, mainly to Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, according to Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Shavkat Bobozoda. Cement demand in Spain closed at 11,140,639t in 2016, representing a 3.1 per cent YoY fall, according to Oficemen, the country's cement association. In December, domestic cement consumption dropped 3.8 per cent to 804,372t when compared with December 2015. Pakistan cement exporters have earned revenues of US$16.36m on exports of 309,868t cement in December 2016, compared to US$23.68m on 455,720t of exports in the previous month. These figures represent a MoM decline in dollar value and volumes of 32 and 30 per cent, respectively. Preliminary data show that Lithuania’s Akmenes Cementas posted EUR51m in total revenue, down by EUR4.4m on 2015. Cement consumption in Peru fell 5.2 per cent to 836,000t in December 2016, according to Asocem, the country's cement association. Exports decreased 43.5 per cent to 27,000t from 47,000t in December 2015. Cement production in December reached 886,000t, representing a 4.8 per cent decline YoY.
