Fitch Ratings has assigned West China Cement's (WCC) proposed US dollar senior unsecured notes a rating of 'BB'. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released foreign direct investment (FDI) data for June 2020 and the FY2019-20. FDI surged by 45 per cent MoM to US$174.8m in June while for the full financial year, FDI soared 88 per cent to US$2.561bn from US$1.362bn in FY18-19. First sustainable credit to the Mexican cement industry agreed

BBVA Mexico has formalised a sustainable credit for MXN2.2bn (US$88.7m) over a five-year term to Cooperativa La Cruz Azul. Holcim El Salvador produced over 1.2Mt of cement and 710,000Mm 3 of concrete in 2019, representing record production figures, and plans to maintain this positive performance in 2020. The company also co-processed around 26,000t of waste in 2019, up from 20,000t in the previous year. Pakistan has received a net total foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$1.34bn during first six months of July and December of FY19-20 compared to US$796.8m received in same months of the previous year. The Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade, Mian Aslam Iqbal, has announced that the government for Punjab, India, has lifted a ban on the cement industry after 12 years. LafargeHolcim plans EUR10m investment in Kujawy

LafargeHolcim will be investing EUR10m in its Kujawy cement plant in Poland. The company will be launched a new product on the market as well as increase the use of alternative fuels (AFs) at the works. At present Cementownia Kujawy’s AF rate is between 80-85 per cent, or around 190,000t, but Lafarge plans to increase this to 90 per cent by 2021. To date Lafarge has invested around EUR100m in the Kujawy cement works, which produces approximately 2Mta of cement.

The chairman of Belarus’ State Control Committee, Leonid Anfimau, has stated that the funds invested in the domestic industry have yet to see a return.
