Peru cement demand up 1.4% in May

Peru’s cement consumption increased by 1.4 per cent YoY in May, according to the Asociación de Productores de Cemento. Total deliveries, which include exports, increased 1.9 per cent. Production slipped 0.2 per cent when compared with May 2015. “During the fifth month of 2016, cement production fell slightly but national and total dispatches continued to grow,” said the cement association.

Peru: cement market expands 1.8% YoY in April

Peru’s cement demand increased 1.8 per cent YoY in April to 781,000t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. This reversed the previous month’s fall of 1.4 per cent. Cement output in April expanded by 7.5 per cent YoY to 831,000t. Some 29,000t of this volume was exported, reflecting an eight per cent decrease when compared with April 2015. In addition, 23,000t of clinker was exported – some 17 per cent below the April 2015 level.

Peru’s cement demand edges down in January

Cement consumption in Peru slipped by 0.4 per cent YoY from 816,000t in January 2015 to 813,000t in January 2016, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. In addition, clinker exports reached 28,000t, down 69 per cent, while cement exports fell by 29 per cent to 29,000t during the first month of 2016. On the supply side, production increased 0.1 per cent from 857,000t to 858,000t. Cement imports totalled 50,000t, up 13 per cent YoY, while 44,000t clinker was also imported....

Peru’s cement dispatches remained stable in December 2015 as they reached 881,000t while total dispatches edged up one per cent to 928,000t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement producers’ association. Cement dispatches in Peru fell 4.8 per cent YoY in November 2015, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Some 0.884Mt of cement was sold, down from 0.929Mt in November 2014. Total sales saw a 3.4 per cent drop to 0.923Mt. Output fell five per cent YoY from 0.973Mt to 0.924Mt in November 2015.

An extraordinary shareholders meeting of Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento (Soboce) has approved to reinvest BOB487.2m (US$790.9m) and raise its paid-up capital to continue its investment plans and growth in the domestic market. As a result, Soboce’s paid-up capital will more than triple from BOB196.6m to BOB683.8m. The company’s net profit in the year ended June 2015 reached BOB141.4m, representing a 13.5 per cent fall YoY.

The Peruvian cement market continues to show signs of recovery as market contraction is decelerating in October, according to Asocem, Peru’s cement producers’ association.
