Nevjansky Tsementnik increases output in 2017

Nevyansky Tsementnik, part of Eurocement, produced 823,339t of clinker and 1Mt of cement in 2017. This represents an increase by seven and 15 per cent, respectively, when compared with 2016. Production and shipment of cement at the plant reached an all-time high in July 2017. Output increased to 121,682t while deliveries were up to 127,284t.

Puerto Rican cement sales fell 11% in 2017

Cement sales in Puerto Rico decreased by 11.2 per cent in 2017, seeing declines in September, October, November and December, reports Sin Comillas. The fall in sales has been attributed to a weak economy following the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria, but sales have declined since 2013. Paraguay: INC Vallemi sales up 19% in 2017

Paraguayan cement producer Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) sold 20.06m bags of cement in Vallemi in 2017, representing an 18.5 per cent rise YoY. The increase continues the positive trend experienced in the last few years by the cement company. Sales increased to 1.36m in 2015 from 890,363 bags in 2014.

Sagar Cement sees 65% sales increase

Sagar Cement (SCL) saw a 65 per cent rise in sales in December 2017 as the India-based company reported sales of 254,348Mt, compared with the year-ago period. Pakistan sees an increase in total cement dispatches for 2H17

The Pakistan cement sector experienced sales growth in July-December 2017 with total dispatches reaching 22.24Mt from 19.8Mt in the year-ago period, reports Business Recorder. In the final six months of 2017, domestic consumption reached 19.83Mt which is an increase from 16.89Mt in the corresponding period of the previous year. Dangote has agreed to sell its cement on e-commerce platform Jumia Nigeria. According to Dangote, the move is designed to reduce prices and ease logistical issues. It is also hoped to end scams by online fraudsters claiming to sell Dangote cement at vastly-deflated prices. Overall cement sales in Puerto Rico fell by 15.8 per cent YoY in November, representing a modes improvements when compared with the previous two months. Output from Puerto Rico's cement plants decreased 24.1 per cent YoY, following a drop of 52.9 per cent reported the previous month. In 2016 cement sales fell 12.3 per cent YoY while production saw an 11.5 per cent decrease during the same period.

Cement plants in Pakistan reach 95% capacity utilisation

Cement plants in Pakistan reached 94.65 per cent capacity utilisation during the July-November period of 2017, according to The Nation. In November 2017 the country recorded a 9.89 per cent increase in domestic consumption. Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) announced record sales of 1.2m bags in November 2017. Jorge Méndez, president of the Paraguayan cement producer, said the company sold 1,249,065 bags of Cemento Vallemi, a sign that the market is returning to growth.
