Vietnam: Vicem sells 25.8Mt of cement and clinker in 2016

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) sold around 25.8Mt of cement and clinker in 2016, representing a YoY rise of 11.2 per cent and surpassing the year’s target by 11 per cent. Some 22.73Mt of cement and clinker were sold in the domestic market, a 8.8 per cent rise when compared with 2015. Vicem increased its exports by 45.8 per cent to 3.07Mt. PT Semen Indonesia domestic sales down 6%, export more than double

PT Semen Indonesia’s domestic cement sales dropped six per cent YoY to 2.55Mt in October from 2.71Mt. However, the company saw its export sales rise from 28,302t in October 2015 to 62,829t one year later. For the first 10 months of 2016, domestic sales edged up from 20.93Mt in 10M15 to 21.19Mt. Cement exports rose 15.2 per cent YoY from 419,767t to 483,745t.

China National Building Materials (CNBM) group’s merger with China National Materials (Sinoma) group has been approved. An official merger ceremony was held in Beijing at the end of last month. Chile's top three cement companies - Cemento Melon, Cementos Polpaico and Cementos Bio Bio - recorded a 3.7 per cent YoY rise in sales to CLP339.82bn (USD510.48m) in the first six months of 2016. For the first two months of the current fiscal year (July-August 2016) Pakistan's total cement dispatches increased 14 per cent to 4.9Mt when compared to the 4.3Mt recorded in the same period last year. The increase is a result of growing domestic sales, which in August rose by 21 per cent YoY to 3.03Mt, up from 2.5Mt. PPC reported a nine per cent YoY rise in quarterly sales revenue, commenting that sales revenue in South Africa increased two per cent and volumes by at least nine per cent in the company's 3QFY15-16. Sagar Cements’ reported production and sales figures for June 2016 are down when compared to the figures from June 2015. Cement production stood at 130,035t in June 2016, a one per cent drop from the 130,905t reported in June 2015.
