Aalborg Portland reports sluggish Futurecem sales

Sales of its lower-carbon cement, Futurecem, have not reached the projected volumes of 40,000tpa, 18 months after its market launch, according to Denmark-based Aalborg Portland. To date sales of 2000t have been reported. Aalborg Portland CEO, Michael Lundgaard Thomsen, said the company will carry out a 20-30 per cent price reduction to bring Futurecem’s price in line with that of standard cement. Fancesa changes sales policy

Bolivian cement producer Fancesa is changing its sales policy. The company will no longer sell exclusively through its authorised agencies, according to Correo del Sur. At present, almost all of the company’s sales in Sucre, Potosí and Tarija are made through authorised agencies. The value of raw material imports for Bangladesh’s cement industry fell almost 13 per cent YoY to BDT64.81bn (US$764.1m) in the FY19-20, on the back of a stagnation in construction activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Paraguay-based Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) has reported a record volume in cement sales at the end of July, reports Agencia de Información Paraguaya. The company sold 1,610,708 bags of cement in July, or an average of 48,500 bags/day. Egypt’s Sinai Cement saw its net losses widen 35 per cent YoY to EGP105.44m (US$6.5m) in the first quarter of 2020, compared to a loss of EGP78.16m in the corresponding period of last year. However, the company’s net sales increased 5.3 per cent YoY to EGP211.73m from EGP201.08m in the 1Q19.

Jamaica-based Caribbean Cement expects its annual sales to drop 10-20 per cent this year, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Total sales of Semen Indonesia Group (SIG) fell two per cent in March 2020 to 3,098,449t when compared with March 2019, when sales reached 3,161,373t, according to data released by SIG.
