National cement dispatches in Colombia declined 3.9 per cent YoY to 0.991Mt in April 2019 from 1.031Mt in April 2018, according to the country’s national statistics office, DANE. Dal Group has reported the signing of a number of new orders in the cement sector in Colombia, Russia, Egypt and Qatar. In the first three months of 2019, Argos reported revenues of US$693.8m, an increase of 14 per cent on 1Q18. Operating EBITDA reached US$99.39m, 3.7 per cent higher, while net profit totalled US$4.9m. Grey cement production in Colombia increased seven per cent YoY to 1.14Mt in March 2019, according to the latest data by the country’s statistics office, DANE. Of this total, 1.044Mt was dispatched within the domestic market, an advance of 6.6 per cent when compared with March 2018. Cemex receives approval for Maceo operations up to 2040

Cemex has received approval from the Attorney General’s Office in Colombia to carry out mining operations at its plant in Maceo, Antioquia. The contract will last until 2040 with the option to extend it until 2050 if the company extends the duration of the mining concession. Grupo Argos to invest COP2.6trn in subsidiaries in 2019

Colombia’s Grupo Argos, parent company of Cementos Argos, has stated that it plans to invest around COP2.6trn (US$816m) in its cement, energy and construction subsidiaries this year. Cementos Argos, Celsia and Odinsa will be the focus of the spending, made possible by the increase in net profits for the group in 2018. "In the coming years we'll continue to be a relevant player in the infrastructure of the country and the continent," said Grupo Argos CEO, Jorge Mario Velasquez.
