Lafarge Cement Jordan posts JOD2.75m 3Q16 loss

Lafarge Cement Jordan posted a loss of JOD2.75m (US$3.9m) in the 3Q16 against profit of JOD8950 (US$12,600) in the same period in 2015, according to a filing of unaudited 3Qfinancial results to the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). The cement firm also posted a loss of JOD4.53m in the first nine months of 2016 against a profit of JOD5.5m in the year-ago period. Nine-month sales fell seven per cent YoY to JOD69.5m from JOD74.7m.

Lafarge makes renewed bid for environmental permit, Slovenia

Lafarge Cement (Slovenia) confirmed Wednesday it had filed a new request for an environmental permit, though it would not comment on the details of its filing, the Slovenian Press Agency reports. Lafarge told to suspend operations in Slovenia over enviro permits

Slovenian producer Lafarge Cement said on Wednesday that the country’s environment inspectorate has ordered the plant to suspend operations for lacking environmental permits. The inspectorate acted following a recent decision of the European Commission to refer Slovenia to the European Court of Justice for failing to issue an industrial permit to a major cement factory. Hungary: Magyarország plant invests in alternative fuels storage facility

Lafarge Cement Magyarország opened a storage facility for waste that will be used to help fuel its plant in Királyegyháza, southwestern Hungary. The project, involving an investment of HUF700m (EUR2.2m), will be used to store plastic, rubber and  industrial and farm byproducts. Lafarge Cement Magyarország employs 130 people, and reported revenues of HUF8.3bn last year.

Lafarge Cement Wapco reported a double-digit rise in pretax profit and revenue for the first half of 2014 as demand remained strong despite the rainy season slowing building activity. The company, which last month merged with Lafarge’s South African subsidiary, reported a pretax profit of 29 per cent rise in first-half to NGN17.74bn (US$85m). Cement consumption in the Czech Republic is expected to see another fall in 2014, but the pace of decline is set to ease, according to the head of Lafarge Czech Republic. Lafarge constructing Chipata depot, Zambia

Lafarge Zambia is constructing the first cement depot in Chipata District in Eastern Province, valued at US$700,000. The depot will have a cement storage capacity of 3000t. Rising cement demand in the Zimbabwe market has resulted to Lafarge Cement Co upgrading its revenue forecast for full year 2012 to US$62m, from an initial forecast of US$60m.
