Indonesian cement sales growth has slowed in the first six months of the year, leading to concerns that the country may miss its full year target. For the six months to the end of June 2014, domestic sales reached 28.9Mt, up 3.9 per cent YoY but well below the full-year growth target of six per cent. Vicem production up 5.1% per cent in first five months

Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) produced 7.34Mt of cement in the first five months of this year, rising 5.1 per cent from a year ago and fulfilling 39 per cent of the whole-year target. The corporation’s clinker output, however, fell by three per cent YoY to 6.63Mt in the period, meeting 38.4 per cent of the full-year target. Indonesian cement sales growth picked up pace during May following a slowdown during the month before on the back of legislative elections. Last month cement sales advanced by 7.7 per cent to 5.2Mt, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association shows. Companies in Vietnam sold 6.07Mt of cement in May, up 9.7 per cent from a year ago, including 4.77Mt sold at the domestic market, rising by 11.9 per cent YoY, the Vietnam Building Material Department under the Ministry of Construction has said.
