The Bosowa Group of Indonesia plans to take its cement unit, Semen Bosowa Maros, to an initial public offering by 2016. “We may go public within the next two years. Indonesian cement consumption slowed during the first quarter of this year despite a strong rebound in March sales, latest data by the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) shows. For the first three months of the year, demand rose by 3.7 per cent YoY to 14.08Mt compared to 13.58Mt in the comparative period of 2013. Holcim Indonesia plans to integrate two subsidiaries as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, the company said in a statement on Friday. The Indonesian division of the cement Swiss major plans to merge units Bintang Polindo Perkasa and Wahana Transtama. Vietnam sold 10.23Mt of cement in the domestic market in the first quarter of this year, up eight per cent from a year ago, the Ministry of Construction (MoC) said. Vietnam sold 8.4Mt of cement in the first two months of this year, up 6.7 per cent from a year earlier, the Ministry of Construction said.
