Luks Group (Vietnam Holdings) Company Ltd has announced revenue of HKD266.3m (US$33.9m) in the first half of 2022, down 4.1 per cent from HKD277.7m in the same period a year earlier. Vietnam’s cement market expanded six per cent to 5,199,736t in July 2022 when compared with July 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). VICEM sales advanced by eight per cent YoY to 1,750,212t while other VNCA-affiliated companies reported a 22 per cent hike in deliveries. Cement consumption in Vietnam came in at 5.95Mt in July 2022, down 27 per cent compared to July 2021, according to data from the Department of Building Materials under the Ministry of Construction. Domestic consumption in July reached 4.85Mt while exports stood at around 1.1Mt. Vietnam's Xuan Than Cement to commission Line 3 in October

Vietnamese cement producer Xuan Than Cement is expected to bring online its third line, with a cement capacity of 4.5Mta, at the end of October, according to local media. Upon completion, the production line will increase the company’s total capacity in Ha Nam province to 10Mta. The 2.3Mta Long Thanh project is also expected to be commissioned this year. It will add to an already-high cement supply in the 64Mta market.

Song Lam Cement exports 2.28Mt of cement in 1H22

Vietnam-based Song Lam Cement JSC , part of the Vissai Group , exported 2.28Mt of cement in the first half of 2022, according to local media.   The Philippines was the largest off-taker of Song Lam cement, importing 713,000t. Ha Tien Cement JSC’ s ( Vicem group ) net profit halved YoY in the 1H22 to VND160bn (US$6.8m) due to higher fuel and additive costs. Domestic cement dispatches in Vietnam slipped one per cent MoM and four per cent YoY to 5.590Mt in June 2022, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction has proposed Thanh Hoa’s provincial authority to review the construction of Lines 3 and 4 of Dai Duong JSC to avoid a glut in supply, according to local media. Cement sales in Vietnam declined by eight per cent YoY and by five per cent MoM to 5,655,119t in May 2022, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Vietnam’s dominance of cement imports in the Philippines continues to cause concern for local producers.
