Zambezi Portland Cement Limited (ZPC) has reduced its export sales by 50 per cent, effective from 1 August  2013, to cater for the increased demand of the product on the local market. Cement prices in Zambia's capital, Lusaka, have increased for the third time in a month to reach record levels. Prices are currently ZMW85,000 (US$15.60), the highest ever seen on the Zambian market. Lafarge Cement Zambia has reduced its exports by 15 per cent due to buoyant domestic construction market needs. The Zambian government has expelled Lafarge's managing director Fola Esan, who is a Nigerian national, and is also trying to remove Muna Hantuba, the non-executive chairman.
