Colombia saw its cement market contract by 19.7 per cent YoY in July to 924,900t, according to the latest figures by Dane, the country’s statistics office. According to figures released by the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), cement demand in July was up slightly YoY, despite falling by 29 per cent compared to June, Indonesian Investments reports. Peru's cement market contracted 3.7 per cent YoY in July as 772,000t were sold, according to the latest data by Asocem, the Peruvian cement association. However, production increased 2.4 per cent YoY to 837,000t – a signed that the market has started to pick up, according to Asocem. Cement consumption in Indonesia was up by 3.1 per cent in the three months to June, but the national figures belie the patchiness of regional growth. Moroccan cement sales in June declined by 10.8 per cent from 1,164,837t in June 2015 to 1,039,383t, according to the Ministry of Housing and City Policy. Cement sales in Morocco advanced four per cent in the first five months of 2016, according to the Department of Financial Forecast and Research of the country’s Ministry of Economy and Finance. In June, Peruvian cement demand fell by 3.5 per cent YoY to 0.756Mt from 0.781Mt, according to Asocem, the country's cement association. Cement consumption in Indonesia reached 29.48Mt for the first six months of 2016, according to Indonesia Investments, but sales in Java – the largest market – recorded a decline in June. Overall, cement consumption for 1H2016 was up 3.1 per cent YoY. In June, Indonesia consumed 5.1Mt of cement, up by 1.8 per cent YoY.
