Peru: September dispatches up 3.7%

Cement dispatches in Peru rose 3.7 per cent in September to 904,840t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Including exports, dispatches reached 946,762t. For 9M14, total domestic sales remained stable at 7.6Mt, edging up 0.4 per cent when compared with 9M13. Some 0.2Mt of exports were dispatched from the Latin American country in the period. Output registered a 0.81 per cent rise.

Colombian cement demand up 17% in August

Colombia’s cement consumption saw a 17.2 per cent rise to 1.020Mt in August 2014 when compared with the same month of 2013, according to the national statistic office, Dane. Major growth was noted in Nariño (+84 per cent), Boyacá (+54.2 per cent), Magdalena (+46.2 per cent) and Huila (+37.6 per cent) although Cundinamarca and Antioquia also recorded substantial growth of 27.5 and 22.7 per cent, respectively. August cement shipments in the US state of Texas advanced 15.2 per cent than in the same period of 2013, according to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Holcim saw its dispatches rise by 39 per cent in August and by 28 per cent in the first eight months of 2014. In the first half of 2014, national cement demand in Colombia reached 5.690Mt, up 11.2 per cent when compared with the equivalent period of 2013, according to the country's statistics office, Dane. Cement shipments in Peru in June advanced 1.5 per cent to 807,953t in June 2014 from 795,896t in the same month last year, according to the country's cement producers' association, Asocem. Spain's cement consumption fell two per cent YoY to 967,790t in June, according to the latest data from Oficemen, the country's cement association. The latest set of figures brings the total for the 1H14 to 5.2Mt, indicating a market contraction of 3.2 per cent over the same period of 2013.
