Bangladesh records a 20% fall in export revenue

Bangladesh's cement industry has recorded a 20.4 per cent decline in export revenue to US$8.82m during the 10MFY18-19, compared to US$11.08m of the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. Egyptian cement exports declined in value to US$19m in the first two months of 2019 compared with US$23m of the year-ago period, according to the Export Council for Building Materials (ECBM). Pakistan’s cement exports to South Africa have significantly fallen over the last two years as a result of the anti-dumping duty imposed by the South African government, according to Mohammad Rafiq Memon, chairman of the Pakistan-South Africa Business Forum (PSABF). Over 14,000t of cement is set to be exported from Iran’s southern island of Qeshm to Somalia, according to Iran Daily. Vietnamese exports rise 15% in February

Vietnamese exports have risen 15.2 per cent in volume and 36.3 per cent in value for February 2019, rising to around 2.5Mt and US$105m, respectively. The average export price has increased 18.3 per cent YoY to US$42/t, according to the country’s Foreign Trade Agency. Iran’s southern province of Hormozgan reported a 40 per cent increase in clinker and cement exports to 400,000t during the eight-month period between 21 March-21 November 2018, according to Masoumeh Mousavi of the country’s Mine and Trade Department. Iran’s cement exports increased seven per cent YoY to 3.8Mt in the first seven months of the Iranian year started 21 March, according to Abdurreza Sheykhan, chairman of Iran's Cement Industry Employers Association. Bangladesh's cement industry export revenues saw a growth of 24.01 per cent during the first 11 months of FY17-18 (July 2017-May 2018), says data released by Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).   The country exported cement and other materials worth of US$11.88m during the 11MFY17-18, compared to US$9.58m earned in the year-ago corresponding months.
