Jidong Cement has renewed its coal contract with Mechel, according to the Russian metals and mining company. Vietnam’s cement industry has helped drive an increase in coal sales during the first 11 months of 2018. Local residents of Hpa-an, Kiyan state, Myanmar, have called on the government to monitor local cement plants that have switched from using natural gas to coal-fired kilns. The two local cement plants in Hpa-an produce 4900tpd and are now 20 years old. Local residents met on 10 November 2018 to urge the authorities to stop the operations of the factories. Environmental impact assessments have been requested as well as the safety for residents living near by.

Grinding specialist Gebr Pfeiffer has received the order for a coal grinding system to be installed at Samrat Cement Co Pvt Ltd’s new plant in the Dang region of southern Nepal. Mozambique’s Cimentos de Maiaia has awarded Brazilian mining giant Vale the contract for its coal supply.
