Hi,

I have been told that bull nose area in the cooler is cooled externally by a cooling fan to increase the life of bull nose concrete/bricks.kindly comment.

clarke can u pl comment on the same. (external shell cooling fan at the nose ring portion of the cooler)

In one of our plants, we had frequent failures of castables in the bull nose area. The supplier (FLS), suggested us to go for an external cooling fan for the increasing the life. The trial is under observation

Cooling the cooler casing at the bull nose will not do anything to increase the life of the bull nose concrete or bricks. It will help to preserve the casing when the refractory lining is worn and the casing temperature rises.
