Iranian company builds floating silos for cement shipment
04 January 2006

An Iranian company in Arak has devised a new method to carry cement across the Caspian sea from Iran to customers in neighbouring countries. It makes use of containers similar to floating silos. Azarab Industries Company (AIC) has managed to install the silos on a number of floating platforms or barges for an Iranian shipping company. The company has built 11 such silos in a four-month period. Each silo has a capacity of about 250 cu.m and weighs up to 11t. The 4.5m tall structures are 5.5m in diameter and are designed to withstand the humid climates and sea water conditions. Published under Cement News
