Portuguese cement group Cimpor is planning to start shipping operations, it was reported on May 21, 2004. Cimpor is apparently currently negotiating the purchase of a fleet of vessels, which will help it to reduce transport costs, especially when transporting clinker.  Cimpor’s subsidiaries in Spain are expected to benefit the most in terms of transport cost reduction from such a vessel fleet purchase.
