CMS Cement opens new terminal, Malaysia
22 March 2012

CMS Cement, the sole cement producer in the state of Sarawak, East Malaysia, has opened a new cement terminal in Miri as the company aims to better its supply chain operations.

In a statement issued by parent company Cahya Mata Sarawak, the terminal is equipped with 6000t of storage capacity, a sealed pneumatic pipeline and two 150t steel hoppers.

The new terminal will make cement distribution in Miri more reliable as bulk cement manufactured at the company’s Kuching plant can be transported in all weather conditions.

CMS is currently building a similar cement terminal in Sibu, which is expected to be fully operational by end-April this year.

The company operates two grinding plants in Kuching and Bintulu which produce Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Cemplast masonry cement for the entire Sarawak market. Production capacity of the two plants stands at 1.75Mt

CMS Group also owns East Malaysia’s sole clinker manufacturer, CMS Clinker Sdn Bhd, which operates a plant at Mambong on the outskirts of Kuching. At this facility, the company is raising output from an average minimum production of 2800tpd to 2200tpd currently.
