Insee Cement wins environmental awards

Insee Ecocyle Lanka, a subsidiary of Siam City Cement (Lanka) Ltd, scooped the silver award in the solid waste recovery, recycling and disposal or processing category at the Presidential Environmental Awards 2018, held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Insee Ecocycle Lanka director Sanjeewa Chulakumara said, "Insee Ecocycle is now established as an independent company, and diversified its business portfolio to provide non-kiln based waste management solutions contributing towards a waste-free country." A bronze award was also presented by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) to recognise Insee Cement's contribution to green processes at the company's Puttalam cement plant.

Insee Cement's CEO, Nandana Ekanayake said, "Our Puttalam plant is where we can showcase our sustainable development process that contributes tremendously to energy saving, carbon footprint  and occupational health."
