Cemex and its consortium partner, Linde, is benefitting from the EU Innovation Fund which has signed the grant agreement for the implementation of Cemex’s CO2 capture project "CO2LLECT" at the Rüdersdorf cement plant, in Brandenburg, Germany.

Juan Fernando Enriquez Martell, vice president operations and cement technology Cemex EMEA, said "The successful conclusion of the grant agreement shows the importance of CO2LLECT for the decarbonisation of our industry and the trust placed in us by the European side. The project in Rüdersdorf has all the prerequisites and qualifications to make a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of the cement industry."

CO2LLECT is Cemex's largest planned carbon capture and storage (CCS) project to date. In addition to CO2LLECT, other projects for the prevention and capture of CO2 are being implemented in Rüdersdorf as part of the Carbon Neutral Alliance. In 2024, the EU Innovation Fund announced that it was investing EUR157m in the Rüdersdorf carbon capture project.
