JSW Cement reported consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders of INR1.61bn (US$18.4m) in the first quarter of FY27, representing a 60 per cent increase on an underlying basis.

The company recorded a INR13.56bn loss in the year-ago period, although this included an exceptional INR14.66bn charge related to the valuation of compulsorily convertible preference shares. Excluding this item, 1QFY26 profit after tax was around INR1bn.

Revenue from operations increased 21.6 per cent YoY to INR18.96bn, supported by higher volumes. However, costs also increased, with power and fuel expenses rising 43.7 per cent to INR3.05bn, raw material costs up 22.7 per cent to INR4.44bn and freight and handling expenses increasing 14.2 per cent to INR4.15bn.

Separately, JSW Cement’s board approved plans to raise up to INR5bn through privately-placed non-convertible debentures.
